Today's heart(s)
are a selection of
appropriately shaped stones,
collected over the year.
This black black heart shone out at me during a wet and blustery day as we walked along a rocky beach. Our heads were bent away from the stinging wind as we tried to keep out the cold and rain, so instead of looking at the far distant views of islands and horizons, we were focused on our immediate surroundings, our world has shrunk to the the area around feet.
The wet stones looked lustrous and glossy in deep shades of quartz slashed burgundy, white and russets with the rare black pebble.
Then my eye fell upon this one,
a black heart-shaped nugget with a thin drizzle of quartz mirroring it's outline.
I picked it up marveling at it's appearance and solid weight.
I felt it's icy wet lobe-like structure and was delighted - what a treasure!
I placed it in my coat pocket and as we trudged back, still hunched against the weather,
I could feel the black heart thumping against my leg.

Now, off to do some sewing - I'm trying something different! Might show you......might not! (Oooh what a tease :)!! )

B found that single stone heart
ReplyDeleteon the beach at Low Newton, Northumberland on our 47th wedding anniversry in 2009. Thank you for using it in your February Valentine Special. :>)xx
Jak - I never knew that about that particular stone, glad it is here today :)
ReplyDeleteDefinitely my favourite so far. I love the fact there's no human input. Having said that, I'm quite partial to the red crochet hearts and much of the 'stuff' in the shop windows :-)
ReplyDeleteReally like the black heart! A good find
ReplyDeleteSarah
Oh - I like this one - REALLY like the back heart!
ReplyDeleteJu24 - I know what you mean, each time I post about a heart, I think that 'this one' is my favorite, then tomorrow I will post another one and think - 'no, this is my favorite!'
ReplyDeleteSarah and Cat - Thank you both!
wow, what a striking stone - quite amazing :)
ReplyDeleteplease, please, show us ... or at least give a little hint?
narkeymarkey - you are correct - it is a striking stone, and as for a hint....hmmm, might do! (later, don't worry have been taking photos as I go along)
