Well, eventually after a lot of huffing and puffing and putting aside to do my Mom's birthday shawl, I eventually finished it!
Do you know how difficult it is to take a photo of your head?? Sheeesh!
And because you will ask - The yarn is gifted Icelandic lopi in a deep turquoise and moss, and the pattern is from Kristen Knits book, I found that although I did the adult sized hat, it was not deep enough so having finished it, (it was a brim up rather than a top down knit) I then used a Tunisian crochet hook, picked up the cast on row and turned it upside down and added a further deeper rib and contrasting garter stitch row.
So - whatcha think? I am chuffed - it has mistakes and it is still early days but this is my first fair-isle-ish knit and I am happy happy happy!

Not surprised at all you're right chuffed!!! It is lovely ...I want!!! Great yarn..love the colours and everything...its the tassel that's got me..love it too wonder if I could do a crochet one...but I want that yarn.
ReplyDeleteSeems I want a lot :-)
Amanda :-)
Cute! You and the hat:-)! You did a lovely job!
ReplyDeleteAnother gold star moment for you! I too have this lovely book and will remember your comments re hat size. The tassel is glorious and really sets it off. No doubt you can wear it today as it is raining (yet again).
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness your hat is lovely! You should be well pleased with yourself, you did an amazing job!
ReplyDeleteI don't think I've ever tried, although I've probably done it accidentally, to take a photo of my own head! A difficult manouver I would imagine. So, very well done and worth it 'cos the hat is brilliant too!!
ReplyDeleteI love that hat! Well done. I also have some Lopi yarn that I got from Iceland, it's such a nice yarn to knit with and super warm too!
ReplyDeleteYou have found it!! I thought it was gone forever!! I was, and am still impressed that the first thing you ever knitted was in fair-isle. :>)xx
