Youngest was in charge of the camera and must have taken a photo of every cake in the cafe -
I had the most heavenly carrot cake - it was gorgeously succulent and spiced ever so lightly. The cream topping was gorgeous and I would have (if allowed) licked the plate clean......
Himself had a plum and fig hot pudding swimming in a toffee sauce with a huge lump of extra thick cream for good measure (you can just feel the calories can't you!!)
While the boys plumped (no pun intended) for rose scented cheesecake with a strawberry covered rose leaf jelly on a vanilla cake base
And all this calorifically wonderous stuff was washed down with copious amounts of tea served from a silver teapot and sweetened by rose decorated teacups and sugar lumps - a treat we have had before - we love Kitty's Cafe in New Galloway.
Oh lucky you! I feel fatter just by looking at the photos. 21 again, yipee! Sounds like you had a good time. I think I would have had the cheesecake that the boys had, then the carrot cake and then another (not too keen on figs!). Perhaps this is why I need to lose weight!
ReplyDeleteOh my, I've just commented on Heldesland's blog which I follow, because she was making me hungry having blogged about fish pie and rhubarb crumble AND then I've read yours and I'm beside myself. What gorgeous pics of gorgeous cakes. I'm going to have to go and eat something immediately!
ReplyDeleteI agree with LL's cake choices too. Makes me feel younger if you are only 21 - again!! Those gorgeous cakes remind me of the cake trolley at the White Hart Hotel in Exeter. When I commented on all the calories the waiter advised me that none of their cakes had calories in them!! If only! :>)xx
