17.06.10 - Garden Festival

For my sins several years ago, in a flash of inspiration and with a lot of help from my friends and family, I started a village garden festival. With their support, I ran it for three years. I then resigned to let others guide the now successful event on.

I had found it extremely stressful and wrapped up in red tape so leaving it was a great relief and I refused to have any involvement with it.  A few years later, I  finally entered my garden and to my total disbelief I won the large garden section.

Now, a year further on, in a moment of weakness, I have entered again - only this time - I wish I hadn't!

With the date for judging getting nearer and nearer and the garden growing wild with gay abandon, I have finally succumbed to the fact I had better do something with it.

So - I have been gardening - with a little help.................

With all this help - I haven't a hope in hell!

  1. hahahahah. That's perfect! Great pictures and from what I see, the garden is made lovelier with the addition of the white, red, brown and black colors of the chickens or roosters (not a farm girl -- not sure what those animals actually are), but they are very festive! Keep me posted$ Is the white one pregnant? She looks chubby!

  3. Jan - You made me giggle saying that the girls improve the garden - that is kinda what they think too! They are all hens, we've got 6. Only 4 lay eggs whilst the older two are just 'pets'. The rather fat white hen is just that - fat - it is her breed type, she is a large duel purpose hen bred for eating and laying, the other hen - the black one is her best friend and also 'retired'. That terribly tatty red hen is our best layer!

Thursday - Thank you , but there is so-oo much work to be done, the garden has definitely got away from me this year and needs a fair bit of bush whacking to get it back into shape - that's where the girls come in - they can bush whack with the best of them!
