I walk by these books every day,
I often reach and pull one out and flip through the pages.
They inspire, they encourage, they guide, they spark my imagination.
They are a good indicator of me.
A good indicator of how I would like to be.
But my bookcase doesn't just hold books.
Toys and the boy's art work often play on the shelves. Pebbles, leaves and feathers come and go with the seasons, candles are lit at night, incense smoulders from it's wooden holder while ash from the wood-burner settles allowing my artistic nature freedom to doodle in the dust.......
I have an eclectic taste in authors and books, it is easier for me to say what I don't like rather than specify what I do. But all my books have one thing in common - their ability to absorb and inspire me.
One of my favourite authors is Emma Restall Orr, she steels me away and transports me into the unknown, the unknown that I wish I knew more about.

I read Emma Restall Orr too, I like her Haiku poetry
ReplyDeleteHmm, like your books
Sarah
we share at least 3 books from that shelf... and i could read all the others!
ReplyDeleteI'll have to look up Emma Restell Orr ... I've never heard of her. Your bookcase is very cute ... so many different books! Love the bowl with the pebbles and the design of the antler in the background!
ReplyDeleteSarah - Thanks, I like my books too! I must admit that I have not read much of Emma's haiku poetry, must look into that.
ReplyDeleteMon - I noticed the similarity in the herb books too :)
Shaktimama - Thank you, that bowl with pebbles - about a third of the pebbles are written on with sayings and organic shapes. Depending on my mood I move them around to show different phrases and images.
I see you have Life of Pi, my sister in law is going to lend me hers (hint hint) so that I can read it, she says it is a most wonderful book.
Hello :) Popped over from Holistic Mama's blog and I immediately fell in love with your tea above and your bookshelves here! I have 2 of Emma Restall Orr's books on my "to read" list, but unfortunately, have never found them.
