So, here at the half way point of the six weeks summer school hols us 'grown-up's (in age only) are having to go back to being grown up, while the boys have the delightful anticipation of three more weeks of holidays filled with birthdays, sleep overs, cub camps and any other delights the entertainments officers (us) can wangle.
Strangely enough, despite the cathartic feel to our holiday, where Himself and I reminded ourselves what it was like just to ' b-r-e-a-t-h-e' and the boys enjoyed the freedom of being outdoors for hours, I am tired and uninspired to write anything um...inspirational! So in the absence of that, I am going to just list 10 random things.
- Today, today the weather matches my mood - overcast, miserable, grey and grumpy (oh hang on - that is me!)
- Yesterday I climbed over snow topped mountains of post-holiday dirty washing, today I have lovely piles of dry laundry.
- The garden, in our absence, has taken a new career path - that of being an untamed jungle. I shall be giving it a severe talking to (and probably a more practical approach of a slash and burn policy.....)
- I have several WIPs to report on and FOs to photograph and show off, some sadly not yet as they are gifts.
- I have a kingsized headache - that is probably the actual cause of the lack of inspiration
- The dog smells - despite the bath (or helped by the bath) the boys gave her yesterday and coz the weather is as damp as a wet lettuce - I don't think we will wash her again today (reaches for clothes peg for nose). Tomorrow sun has been forecast so giddy dog has been promised a 'shampoo and set'
- Some of my giant GIANT sunflowers flowering! Taller than the greenhouse, they definitely gladden my heart with their huge smiley faces.
- I have piles of delightful fabric remnants that I've cut and pinned and put aside ready for sewing.....sshh can's say what just yet!
- I am (as I type this) still wrapped up in my PJs and the boys are curled up on the settee also in their PJs - how slobby and lounging about is that!
- I need to put the kettle on and get my act together, this uninspired lack of motivation is not doing me any good, so.....(with determined look on face) time to get up and get dressed and get moving -
Today is another day - bring it on!!
Woo hoo! let's hit the surf!

Oh, I know that awful feeling of 'end of holidayness, its not nice at all.
ReplyDeleteLove the photograph of the boys and their flying boards :)
Sarah
Bummer - I also suffer that dreadful dragging feeling at the end of a good break then having to face normality - work etc really sucks
ReplyDeleteCat
Sarah - thanks, yeah it is a horrible feeling, and we joked about the boys and their 'hover boards' :)
ReplyDeleteCat - nice know that we are not the only ones who hate that end of hols feeling. x
It's on days when you're not full of go and inspiration that the best ideas often strike into the mpty but fertile ground of our brains. Enjoy the lull, see what it brings.
ReplyDeleteAhh...... big Northumberland skies. Happy memories. Can almost feel the sand between my toes. Jak :>) xx
ReplyDeleteAngela - Lull had been filled by booming headache, now that has gone the ol' brain is at it again x
ReplyDeleteJak - those big skies are fantastic x
